At first sight, Staring Contest by ~Cyril Van Der Haegen is a winterly fantasy image of our old friend the Grim Reaper minding his cold business in the woods. Until the point you discover this little white bunny. This combination makes this artwork a hilarious mix of literally black humor and deadly seriousness. I for one am not sure who is going to win, but if they keep it up long enough, this staring contest in the freezing cold will never end...

My first response to your artistry was to break out laughing at the portrayed image! It is no contest betwixt the tiny bunny and the impressive reaper himself! Death is an inevitable construct of this mortal realm- fauna and flora alike know no exceptions; accepting it goes a long way to making a man right with this certainty. Comprehension of this fact enables the fear of the unknown to subside or even disappear like a wisp of wind.
You handled this massive and seemingly unconquerable topic with great taste and finesse!
