It is a look at the Medicare/Medicaid issue we have in America, which has been a problem since the dawn of time. It was also an opportunity to create a Medusa monster that wasn't the stereotypical crazed-and-ugly-woman-with-snakes-on-her-head, but to come with a character that would represent Mega-Corporations as they wish to be seen: powerful, rich and attractive. However, the details sing another song: the needles-in-the-hair, S&M outfit and masks on the walls are a painful reminder that ultimately, you, the individual, will suffer the consequences of their actions.
